Eyelash Myth Busters
We are going to talk about some common myths we hear about eyelash extensions. We know you have heard some, with anything there are misconceptions. Here are some common myths that we would like to break down for you.
Let's start with the most commonly heard "You can't get your eyelash extensions wet for 24-48 hours". Definitely a myth. Adhesives cure by moisture, we can add moisture by using a Nano Mister. At the end of an eyelash treatment a Nano Mister can be used to add moisture and help speed up that curing time with the adhesive. When eyelash extensions were first coming around we did not have Nano Misters, which is where this saying came from. Now that lash artists are using Nano Misters you can get your eyelash extensions wet within 4-8 hours.
Up next, "Don't touch your eyelash extensions". While this is not completely false it is not completely true. You don't want to be touching your lashes all day every day. Your fingers have oils on them, oils build up and break down the adhesive. You do want to brush your lashes every day though. Use a mascara wand that is given to you by your lash artist.
A client comes in and says "I would like Mink lashes". Here is the thing you actually don't and I will tell you why. Mink is a real animal, can you imagine having a real animal on your eyes? Real Mink can cause allergic reactions, they don't hold their curl, and can be very expensive. It is important as a lash artist to educate your client on what the difference between Mink and Faux Mink is. Here at EBL we carry only Faux Mink lashes. Faux Mink lashes are not real mink and have no traces of real mink in them.
We hope we cleared some things up for you today! If you have any questions feel free to email us as hello@ebllashes.com
